In these few verses, which are part of Jesus’ last prayer to the Father on behalf of His followers, the Christian’s relationship with the world is defined.
There have been many different depictions of fathers in literature, movies, and television programs. Sometimes these depictions are basic ideals, while others explore more depth in the interaction between fathers and children. These kinds of stories and figures can sometimes influence one’s image of what an ideal father is supposed to be. This is especially true when examined through the eyes of childhood.
Being a parent is an awesome responsibility – one of the most serious and necessary responsibilities in our lives. This is a responsibility that lies outside of the workforce and being a father can never be considered a “job” in a labor sense. But what if someone were to list a job description for a father? What would such a description look like?
The best possible source for learning how to live one’s life in the best possible way is the Word of God. It provides guidance for everyone, both young and old, and always shows us ways we can live better for ourselves, our families, and our neighbors. What makes the Word so powerful is how it includes not only commands and instruction in regard to moral matters, life choices, etc., but it also gives us examples to follow in the lives of heroes of the past.
