Change for the Better

Imperfections of Life

There are things our lives that we would like to change. We all have bad habits we would wish to break, choices we wish we had made differently, and other factors outside of our personal control which frustrate us. When one considers the reality of personal sin in light of the Bible’s teaching, this feeling of a need to change should grow exponentially. It is, of course, through Christ that any such change is possible, by being washed of His blood and conforming ourselves to the pattern of His life.

What a Difference a Day Makes

A Single Day

The difference between an old and new year on the calendar is the difference of one second – one day leading into the next. In history, the changing of one day into another is all that has proven necessary many times in order to bring about great change. Entire empires can rise and fall in the course of one day, such as the fall of Babylon in a single night as described in Daniel Chapter 5.

Thank You

The Time Has Come

The move for our family to Utah is coming upon us all. With this imminent great change in our lives, there is a mixture of thoughts and a mixture of emotions. There is reflection upon the memories that we have collected from over 11 years here in Redding. There is the look ahead to what is to come, and the new opportunities of the future. There is also a blending of joy and sadness; a bittersweet feeling common to times of major change. It is with such a heart I want to wish our great thanks to all here in this congregation.

Understanding the Problem

Rewriting History

In his acclaimed work Nineteen Eighty-Four, George Orwell wrote β€œHe who controls the past controls the future; he who controls the present controls the past.” These words, written to describe an oppressive dystopia have been proven by the propaganda efforts of several brutal regimes. The Nazis sought to rewrite German history as to control her future. Numerous efforts of agitprop within the Soviet Union sought to cover the atrocities of a very bloody past.
