Grasping Eternity

Impossible to Comprehend

In truth, it is impossible for man to fully comprehend the ramifications of eternity. We can attempt to use metaphors and illustrations to describe such a concept, but for man, who is trapped in the happenings of time, the concept of limitlessness is beyond our own experience. It is into this realm that God not only promises, but has purposed for His created beings to enter. While we are not eternal beings in the ultimate sense having had a beginning (unlike God who has no beginning), a part of us is created to last beyond the coil of this earthly frame.

Setting Your Sights

Adjusting Sights

Anyone who is familiar with hunting or target shooting with weapons such as rifles or pistols knows the importance of having the weapon’s sights set properly. It is not enough to simply aim the weapon at the target, but also necessary to make sure the sights which are used to aim are properly adjusted. By making those minute adjustments, it becomes possible that when you place the reticle of scope or the point of the sights over the bulls-eye, it is exactly where the shot will end up. Learning to set one’s sights can make one a better marksman, but the principle can also be applied to our everyday lives.

Spiritual Zombies

Fictional Monsters

In the world of fiction, and especially in Hollywood, there have been many fanciful creatures and monsters of imagination. Among them, one of the most unusual is the zombie. Originally taken from the occult pagan practices of voodoo, the Hollywood idea is of a monster formed either by the (classic) raising in “re-animation” of the dead, or the (modern) “infection” of the living by some exotic disease.

A Day of Remembrance?

A Misplaced Focus

The world has focused upon one particular Sunday as a day of remembrance of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The world entitled this day Easter, although this was not something which God or Christ asked for. Jesus did ask His followers to remember Him, but not in this manner. During the Last Supper, Jesus instituted a memorial which He asked Christians to do “in remembrance of Me” (Luke 22:19, NASU).
