Confonting the Assumptions of Evolution: Origins

Part One: A Question of Origins

As an important part of Christian Evidences, the refutation of the Theory of Evolution (and its legion of variations) is a large area of study. There are many avenues of criticism, both through Biblical evidences and scientific evidences. However, some of its greatest weaknesses do not lie with its conclusions, but instead with the assumptions necessarily made to arrive at such conclusions.

A Great New Day

Different People

There are some people who are “morning people.” These people have the uncanny ability to rise and shine, embracing the new day with gusto. Many times these people are more productive early in the morning rather than at night. However, these people are in the minority. Most of us do not enjoy the breaking of the dawn and meet the proverbial rooster’s crow with less than enthusiasm.

What is Man?

A Vast Universe

The universe is a very large place, at least as far as we can understand its complexity. Within this universe are countless numbers of galaxies, each holding an uncountable number of stars. In reality, any such attempts at measurement are merely conjecture because man cannot comprehend such scope. Among such a maelstrom one singular galaxy does not appear to hold specific importance.

What More Do You Want?

Ungratefulness

One of the many frustrating things in life is ungrateful people. Not simply people who are rude, but those who, although you may have sacrificed your time, money, or attention to help them, do not seem to be appreciative or thankful in any way. Although the measure of our demonstration of love for our neighbor should never be based upon how they choose to react, it can be frustrating when someone we help or give a gift to is completely ungrateful.

In the Likeness of God

Creation of Man

In Genesis 1:27 Moses states that “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (NASU). This unique quality of being in the very “likeness” or “image” of God is reserved for man alone, implying that there is more to existence than the mere animation of life.
